Hello from Washington! Nui from Malinee Channel here. Today I’m reviewing Diptyque Fleur de Peau.

If you love fragrances, don’t forget to hit the bell and subscribe below so you won’t miss my next perfume review!

First Impressions

I have to thank Aisu for recommending this fragrance to me. Honestly, Diptyque was never on my radar - I have to admit. I’ve seen their candles for years but never thought to try their perfumes until Aisu suggested it.

This is one of their latest releases that I’m reviewing here.

Fragrance Notes

Top Notes - Opening

The top notes open with Aldehyde, a synthetic note that creates a sweet, sharp, slightly piercing scent. There’s Angelica which gives it an herbal quality.

Bergamot is essential for this fragrance, and Pink Pepper adds spiciness.

This is a unisex fragrance. When it opens, I find it very sweet and sharp, but with a herbal quality. When these blend together, it reminds me of my father’s aftershave.

Personally, I feel the scent is a bit old-fashioned, but my husband loves it. He doesn’t think it’s old-fashioned at all. So fragrance is really about personal perception - some people like it, some don’t. That’s normal.

For him, he finds the scent very pleasant and comfortable. But for me, this was my first time trying it.

Important Warning!

Normally when I test fragrances, I spray 2 full sprays in the same spot. But this is a very strong fragrance - it’s an EDP (Eau de Parfum).

For those who want to try it, I recommend using just one spray. Today I didn’t dare use 2 sprays because the scent is very powerful.

And it has excellent longevity - this is a plus. It lasts over 10 hours.

Heart Notes - Middle Phase

After the initial sharp sweetness fades, I still detect the sweet sharpness along with something that reminds me of lipstick or cosmetics, almost plastic-like.

The name translates to “Skin Flower” - as if your skin becomes the fragrance.

When I spray this, besides reminding me of my father’s aftershave, it also reminds me of shower gel. It’s like after you shower and have that soapy scent lingering - fresh and slightly sweet.

Base Notes - Dry Down

The base notes include:

  • Turkish Rose - Rose from Turkey
  • Iris - Iris root. I researched and found that iris has many different scent profiles, just like roses - there are thousands of rose varieties
  • Cedarwood
  • Ambergris
  • Musk

According to descriptions, it smells good in my opinion.

Scent Development

The fragrance doesn’t change dramatically from the opening, but it becomes warmer and rounder.

Especially in the dry down, after the Cedarwood, Ambergris, and Musk start to emerge, the sharp sweet opening becomes better and more comfortable to my nose.

The longer you let it sit, the better this fragrance gets. I didn’t particularly like the opening, but after about an hour, I thought it was much better.

Overall Impression

They say fragrances can remind you of certain events or things. This scent constantly makes me think of my father’s aftershave - it makes me feel mature.

But my husband feels the scent is pleasant and nice. It’s a fragrance he would want to wear, and it’s one that many people like.

Cautions

I feel this isn’t an easy-to-wear fragrance. Not everyone will like it, and it’s a bit unusual.

Therefore, it may not be suitable for wearing to work because the scent projects quite strongly.

Conclusion

I encourage everyone to try it and let me know in the comments what this fragrance reminds you of and whether you like it!

Thank you so much for watching. See you in the next video. Bye-bye!
